RIL and Reliance Foundation donate sophisticated medical equipment for the newborns at NCH and SMIMER hospital

Surat (Gujarat) [India]: Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Hazira and Reliance Foundation donated ultra-modern medical equipment for the Newborn Intensive Care Units (NICUs) at the New Civil Hospital (NCH) and the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC)-run SMIMER hospital as part of the Reliance group’s ‘Health For All’ initiative on Friday.

Gujarat BJP Chief CR Paatil dedicated sophisticated equipment at the NCH for newborn children who require intensive care after birth at the NICU in the presence of RIL President Hemant Desai and SMC Standing Committee Chairman Paresh Patel.

The modern medical equipment donated by RIL and Reliance Foundation at NCH  consisted of 14 warmer trolleys, two ventilators, three bubble CPAP machines, and the ultra-modern ultrasound sonography machine for the Radiology department, while 14 warmer trolleys, two ventilators, and three bubble CPAP machines were donated for the NICU at the SMIMER hospital.

With the increase in bed capacity from 47 to 75 for the treatment of preterm deliveries, underweight children, and those suffering from jaundice, approximately 7,200 newborn children from impoverished households will not be required to be admitted to private hospitals for treatment. Poor parents in Surat and South Gujarat will be able to save crores of rupees as a result of this initiative.

Furthermore, the NCH is the first government hospital in South Gujarat to have a state-of-the-art sonography machine. This will help the impoverished patients save an additional Rs 1.35 crore every year.
