Directed and written by Rohit Prajapati, this heartfelt project is more than just a film—it is a landmark, being the first Gujarati movie entirely in the pure Mehsani dialect, with English subtitles for audiences worldwide.

Set in the rustic villages of Mehsana district, Kundalu tells an emotional love story that captures both the fleeting joys and harsh separations of rural life. At the center are Mangu, an orphaned young woman navigating a society that judges her existence, and Vikas, a carefree young man burdened by a speech impediment that isolates him further. Their brief, tender connection is soon tested by rigid traditions, where marriage is seen not only as a union but also as a measure of social worth.

The film’s narrative delves into the lives of those often rendered invisible: the rejected, the overlooked, and the forgotten. Produced by three women—Suchitra, Neena, and Priya of 3 Peepul Productions—it bagged seven awards at the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF-2024): Best Music, Best Cinematography, Best Sound and Editing, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and the Green Rose Award for environmental sensitivity.
