Rajkot | Gujarat — The police department in Rajkot is shocked after a SRP jawan identified as Gajubha Jilubha Rathod, 50, who was on duty at the Police Commissioner’s office in Rajkot, committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest with his service rifle on Thursday night. The incident took place late at night near gate number 3 of the Police Commissioner’s office. 

The victim was immediately shifted to the Rajkot civil hospital for treatment, but he succumed to the bullet injury. Pradyumannagar Police has initiated an investigation into the reason why the SRP jawan committed suicide.

The deceased SRP jawan, who was on duty with Gajubha Rathod, was on night duty. His duty is from 7 pm to 7 am the next day. Other jawans are also stunned by his sudden suicide. Currently, a team of Pradyumannagar Police has reached the Police Commissioner’s office for investigation. The rifle with which the SRP jawan committed suicide has been seized by the FSL team.

The deceased is originally from Kutch, has two daughters

Gajubha Rathod is originally from Moda Rapar village in Kutch. He has two daughters, one of whom is married. He was working in SRP Group 13 C. For the last four months, Gajubha Rathod was working as an SRP in the Police Commissioner’s Office. Before that, he was on duty in the PCR van at Malviyanagar police station. After that, he was on duty in the 112 rescue service.

Reason for SRP jawan Gajubha Rathod’s suicide is unknown

The Pradyumannagar police have started an investigation to find out the reason for his suicide

On Thursday, December 11, around 3 am, he committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest with his service rifle for some reason. However, the reason for his suicide has not yet come to light. His family members are also not saying anything about this at the moment. Pradyumannagar police have launched an investigation to find out the reason for the suicide.

A day ago, the retired Jamadar committed suicide by firing from his own revolver

Retired ASI Niranjan Jani, 60, who had served in Rajkot city police for more than 25 years and lived in Bajrangwadi area, committed suicide on December 10. At around 9 pm at his house, he kept his licensed revolver at his side and fired. As soon as the sound of firing was heard, the family members rushed to the spot, at which time Niranjanbhai was seen in a bloody condition. The seriously injured retired Jamadar Jani was shifted to the hospital. Following the incident, a convoy including senior police officers rushed to the hospital.

Police sources said that Niranjan Jani retired from duty 4 years ago and had been battling a seizure disorder for one and a half years. Jani has two sons. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the city police force.

On December 7, a female police officer working in GRD in Kankrej taluka had said from the stage at Jignesh Mevani’s public meeting in Tharad that the doctor in Patan had removed her uterus instead of operating on the tumor. To take action against him, a complaint has been filed at the Patan City B Division Police Station, but no action is being taken. If justice is not served, I will commit suicide by jumping into a canal. The next day of this incident, i.e. on Monday, December 8, the girl went to the canal near Vadagam in khaki uniform to commit suicide. 

Constable committed suicide by hanging himself after having dinner with his father at night.

Police Constable Narendrasinh Ishwarsinh Chavda, 39, who was on duty in Gandhinagar Special Operation Group (SOG), committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Harna Hoda village of Mansa taluka. On November 10, his father was shocked to see the scene when he went to his room in the morning. The family was devastated by the constable’s suicide. Following Narendrasinh’s death, two daughters and a son have lost their father’s shadow. The day before the suicide, Narendrasinh had left his wife and children with his in-laws and went on duty at night.
