Push India Push Wins Philanthropy Award for Push-Up Challenge
The inaugural push-up challenge was performed as part of the Rajendra Somani Initiative at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge, Balewadi, Pune, Maharashtra, with over 17000 individuals registering to execute push-ups under one roof, regardless of age, gender, caste, or religion.
New Delhi : Adarsh Somani, Founder of Push India Push, was honoured with the Excellence in Philanthropy 2023 award at AsiaOne Magazine’s 20th Edition of the Asia-Africa Business & Social Forum on July 10, 2023, at The JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, Business Bay, Dubai. Mr. Adarsh Somani, Founder of Push India Push, began a unique push-up challenge in remembrance of his father, Late Shri Rajendra Somani, to carry on his father’s initiative to make India a healthier country and unify the people of India through sports to accomplish the goal, Swasth Bharat.
The inaugural push-up challenge was performed as part of the Rajendra Somani Initiative at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge, Balewadi, Pune, Maharashtra, with over 17000 individuals registering to execute push-ups under one roof, regardless of age, gender, caste, or religion. Participants ranged in age from 18 to 72 years old, and the event was also attended by those with disabilities. Total prize money in an event promoting push-ups as a sport had never been heard of before, with total prize money totaling more than Rs. 1 crore. The top ten push-up performers in both categories were proclaimed winners, with the first prize of Rs. 25 lacs, second prize of Rs.15 lacs, and third prize of Rs.10 lacs each granted to male and female contestants.
Aside from that, an event was held at the NSG Mumbai Hub in which over 250 commandos did push-ups.
On the occasion of its 148th Founder’s Day, Bombay Gymkhana hosted an event in the shape of an Inter Club push-up contest. Members of seven exclusive clubs from south Mumbai took part in this event, which was designed to raise funds for our nation’s paraplegic troops. To collect funds, each push-up completed by members of the individual clubs was sponsored.
This event earned Rs.5.00 lacs, which was given to the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre in Pune for the well-being, care, and rehabilitation of our paraplegic troops who were wounded while fulfilling their responsibilities to safeguard our country and us.
The mission is to make India a fitter nation, thereby achieving the Swasth Bharat mission, by focusing not only on physical health but also on spiritual and mental health, women empowerment, youth guidance and motivation, and ensuring that our citizens’ happiness quotient improves. Fitistan, our fitness partner, has embarked on this pan-India fitness promotion effort, which will assist spread fitness awareness and help us realise our goal SWASTH BHARAT.
This mission, initiated by Mr. Adarsh Somani as a philanthropic activity in support of the noble cause of rehabilitation of paraplegic soldiers from various armed forces, has been recognised by AsiaOne magazine and conferred on him an award in the category – Excellence in Philanthropy 2023 in the event held.
