Project Mosaic Launches Version One of India’s First Decentralized AI Grid, Replacing Expensive Data Centers Using AIKosh IndiaAI Datasets

Project Mosaic announces Version One of its decentralized AI network, aiming to train large models on laptops and phones without cloud data centers.

Noida (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 25: Project Mosaic has officially launched Version One of its groundbreaking web-based AI network. Instead of relying on giant, expensive cloud data centers, the platform connects everyday consumer laptops and mobile phones to collaboratively train massive 100-billion-parameter AI models. This breakthrough puts the power of high-performance computing directly into the hands of everyday users. “Right now, the entire AI industry is hitting a massive wall: building giant multi-billion-dollar data centers that consume city-scale electricity, water, and expose everyone’s private data to the cloud,” said Kanishk Anand, Founder of Project Mosaic. “Project Mosaic replaces the need for those centralized data centers by aggregating the millions of powerful GPUs and NPUs already sitting idle on everyday laptops, workstations, and phones. Using browser-native WebGPU and Federated Learning, we distribute AI training across the edge. Zero server energy bills, 100% zero-leakage privacy, and infinite scalability powered by the crowd.”

Empowering 1 Crore Youth & Building “Aatmanirbhar” AI

During his Independence Day address on August 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a bold national vision: to train one crore youth in artificial intelligence skills over the next year. Project Mosaic supports this critical mission by making AI training free and highly accessible and creating their own Small Language Model. Historically, students were locked out of AI creation because they could not afford expensive cloud server rentals. Project Mosaic removes these financial barriers entirely. By transforming standard laptops into active AI development nodes, the platform serves as a grassroots gateway, allowing millions of students in both urban and rural India to transition from passive consumers to active tech builders.

The Power of 1.4 Billion: Culturally Relevant Intelligence

By connecting the latent computing power of India’s 1.4 billion citizens, Project Mosaic is building a truly self-reliant (Aatmanirbhar) digital ecosystem. Many global AI models are trained on Western datasets, missing the rich linguistic nuances of India. To solve this, Project Mosaic natively integrates with the government’s AIKosh IndiaAI Datasets Platform and Indian Government Repositories. This ensures the AI models trained on our decentralized network perfectly understand Indian languages and cultural heritage. Best of all, because processing happens locally on users’ devices, this vital domestic data is never shipped to foreign cloud servers.

Protecting the Environment & Ensuring Total Privacy

Conventional AI data centers are an ecological crisis, consuming megawatts of electricity and requiring millions of gallons of water. Project Mosaic solves this infrastructure bottleneck through a greener, safer approach:
  • Zero New Infrastructure: We harness the processors already sitting on desks in homes and offices, eliminating the need to construct carbon-heavy server warehouses.
  • Going Green: Distributing the workload in tiny batches across thousands of devices drastically cuts down industrial pollution.
  • Total Privacy: Data breaches happen when sensitive information is hoarded centrally. On Project Mosaic, your personal files never leave your computer’s temporary memory, ensuring absolute data security.

EcoMind: The Built-In AI Search Engine

Operating AI locally can be limiting if a user asks a highly complex question requiring real-time facts from the internet. To bridge this gap, Project Mosaic features EcoMind, a proprietary, ultra-efficient Green AI search engine built directly into the ecosystem. When the local AI encounters a demanding query, EcoMind seamlessly steps in. It acts as a highly sustainable backup to fetch verified answers securely from the web, ensuring users always have accurate information without slowing down their device.

Train AI Simply by Playing Retro Arcade Games

You do not need to be a software engineer to help build the future of AI. Project Mosaic has gamified the contribution process. Users can visit our Arcade Hub and play retro web games like Neural Super-Highway Racer, Sky Shooter, and Quantum Snakes & Ladders. While you play, your web browser quietly utilizes its graphics chip to complete tiny AI math problems in the background. No complex downloads, driver updates, or coding skills are needed—just hit play and contribute to the national grid.

How the Technology Works

Instead of rewriting the massive AI brain on a single computer, your device processes a microscopic fragment of data, creating a tiny mathematical “sticky note” of what it learned. Before this note leaves your computer, we apply a mathematical scrambling filter so no one can ever read your raw data. A central system securely collects these tiny notes from thousands of users simultaneously, discards any errors, and blends them into one master AI upgrade that is instantly beamed back to everyone on the network.

About Project Mosaic

Project Mosaic is India’s pioneer in decentralized, browser-native AI infrastructure. Dedicated to eliminating the cost, environmental, and privacy bottlenecks of centralized AI, the platform empowers consumer hardware to collaboratively build foundation models securely at the edge.
