Jabalpur : Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress leader and the poster figure in the crucial Karnataka Assembly election, today launched the party’s campaign for the Madhya Pradesh election with prayers and a massive gathering.

Priyanka Gandhi, state Congress chairman Kamal Nath, and other party officials prayed on the banks of the Narmada River in Jabalpur before of the gathering.

“The list of scams in Madhya Pradesh is longer than the list of abuses that the Prime Minister says are used to target him,” Priyanka Gandhi remarked at the Jabalpur rally.

“What has the BJP done in the state over the last three years?” “Can any of you say your life has improved under the current administration?” she asked.

Ms Vadra said the party’s recent election successes in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka were “a fitting” response to the BJP.

Jabalpur is located in the state’s Mahakoshal area, which has a substantial tribal voter population. The city is renowned as Madhya Pradesh’s cultural centre.

According to Congress leader Vivek Tankha, Ms Vadra selected Jabalpur to kick off the party’s election campaign since Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra did not travel through the area.

The Congress won the Madhya Pradesh election in 2018, but the Kamal Nath administration fell two years later when Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned and joined the BJP, taking 22 party MLAs with him. The majority of the defectors were easily re-elected as BJP candidates.

The BJP has accused the Congress of seeking “soft Hindutva” ahead of the state elections.

In response to the claims, the party’s PC Sharma said, “The BJP separate Lord Rama from Sitaji, we say Jai Siyaram, they say Jai Shriram… they do religion politics, we do religion politics, whether it’s Lord Krishna or Lord Rama.” They are justice gods… What has transpired in Himachal and Karnataka will be repeated in Madhya Pradesh by God.”
