Porbandar | Gujarat — The birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi witnessed a historic celebration as Gujarat marked the 79th Independence Day with grandeur and patriotism. At the state-level ceremony held at Madhvani College Ground, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel hoisted the national flag, calling upon citizens to actively participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhata Abhiyan’.

The event’s highlight was a cultural program themed “Bapu’s Footsteps, Tiranga Bharat”, where 150 artists showcased India’s rich heritage through vibrant performances. Heart-stopping bike stunts and the traditional Talwar Raas captivated the audience, blending thrill with cultural pride.

“This Amritkal gives us an opportunity to reflect on our past and commit to our duties toward the nation,”CM Patel said, emphasizing that the celebrations are more than symbolic gestures—they are reminders of collective responsibility.

Four Milestone Celebrations in Amritkal

Addressing the gathering, CM Patel noted that four significant anniversaries coincide in this Amritkal: the 150th birth anniversaries of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and tribal leader Birsa Munda, 75 years of the adoption of the Constitution, and the birth centenary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

“These milestones are not just events to remember but opportunities to renew our commitment to the national interest,”he added.

Gujarat’s Development Vision

Highlighting Gujarat’s progress, the Chief Minister praised the entrepreneurial spirit of its youth.

“The youth of Gujarat are becoming job givers, not job seekers,”he said.

On women’s empowerment, CM Patel shared that 10 lakh daughters have benefited from the Namo Lakshmi Yojana. He also announced ₹350 crore allocated for coastal area development and fishermen’s welfare, reaffirming the state’s inclusive growth agenda.

Statewide Celebrations

At exactly 9:00 am, all district headquarters across Gujarat simultaneously began their flag-hoisting ceremonies, symbolizing unity and pride. The Porbandar event stood out not only for its historical significance but also for the enthusiasm of citizens who filled the venue.
