Ahmedabad | Gujarat — Ahead of the crucial municipal elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Gujarat for two days at the end of August, with a grand public meeting scheduled in Ahmedabad’s Nikol area on August 25 at 4:30 pm. The BJP has begun large-scale preparations to mobilize nearly one lakh people at the Khodaldham Ground, which will host the event under a specially constructed waterproof German dome.
Ground Shift Due to Rain Forecast
The event was initially planned at the ground opposite Nikol D-Mart, but heavy rains and muddy conditions forced the organizers to shift the venue. The Khodaldham Ground, strategically located near Ring Road, has been finalized for its accessibility and larger capacity.
A senior BJP leader involved in the preparations said, “We want this rally to set the tone for upcoming elections. The Prime Minister’s presence in Nikol, a politically significant part of eastern Ahmedabad, will energize both workers and citizens.”
BJP in Overdrive for Preparations
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the state government are working closely to ensure smooth arrangements for the Prime Minister’s program. BJP city units are conducting back-to-back meetings with MLAs from Naroda, Nikol, Thakkarbapanagar, Vatva, and Bapunagar constituencies, along with corporators and office-bearers.
City BJP President emphasized in a review meeting, “This rally must reflect the people’s support for the Prime Minister. Every society, every ward, and every booth must actively participate.”
To ensure massive turnout, more than 1,000 welcome banners will be displayed across Nikol and Naroda. BJP office bearers are organizing meetings at the ward and society levels, while the Yuva Morcha has been tasked with mobilizing youth participation.
Security and Logistics
With the expected footfall, security has been given top priority. Police teams have already begun chalking out plans for crowd management and the Prime Minister’s protection. Large parking areas are being created on adjacent plots, and multiple entry-exit routes are being secured.
A senior police official said, “We are coordinating with SPG and state police units to ensure foolproof arrangements. Crowd safety and smooth traffic flow are our focus.”
Nikol’s Political Importance
The decision to hold the rally in Nikol, an eastern Ahmedabad constituency, is significant. The area has long complained of slow civic works and lack of infrastructure development, causing dissatisfaction even among BJP’s voter base. Political observers believe the rally is aimed at addressing this discontent directly.
A local resident, however, voiced concerns: “We welcome the Prime Minister, but we also want him to see the condition of roads and drainage here. Promises are plenty, but people are waiting for real development.”
Rally to Set Political Tone
With municipal elections only six months away, the rally is being seen as a show of strength for BJP in its traditional stronghold. Analysts suggest that PM Modi’s presence will help consolidate the party’s support base while countering local resentment.
