Odisha man arrested with 12 Kg Ganja at Surat railway station

Surat : The Surat Railway Police, under the Western Railway Vadodara Government Railway Police (GRP), apprehended an individual with 12 kilograms of Ganja valued at Rs 1.20 lakh at the Surat railway station during the early hours of Monday.

The accused, identified as Raja Bisoi, hailing from Ganjan district in Odisha, was intercepted by vigilant police officers upon his arrival aboard the Porbander Express train from Odisha.

The operation was conducted by Police Head Constable Dinesh Parthiji, who had his suspicions raised when he observed Bisoi carrying a blue-colored handbag and a black backpack while passing through the traffic area at the old parcel office on the Surat railway station premises. Acting swiftly, the police stopped and frisked the suspect’s bags, discovering a significant cache of Ganja concealed within.

According to the authorities, Raja Bisoi is employed as a driver in Odisha and had traveled to Surat with the intention of delivering the illicit substance. It is alleged that the accused was acting as a Ganja peddler, facilitating a transaction with an unidentified buyer within Surat.

The Surat Railway Police have filed a case against the accused under Section 8(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigations into the matter are ongoing as law enforcement seeks to unravel further details of the illegal drug trade.
