Vadodara : The Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) of Vadodara is embroiled in controversy once again, following a viral social media video purportedly showing the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) vice-president, Suzanne Ladman, thrashing a student on campus.

The video, which has sparked outrage online, depicts Ladman engaged in a physical altercation with a student. The student is heard pleading amidst the blows, saying “You are beating my boys.” Another NSUI member is seen joining the assault. Despite the student’s attempts to escape, he is restrained and subjected to kicks and punches. The clip also shows other students attempting to intervene and a professor from the Polytechnic College stepping in to mediate.

Reacting to the incident, Vadodara ABVP President Himanshu Pathak condemned the act, highlighting it as the third such incident involving NSUI in the past four months. He, along with other ABVP members, submitted a representation to the Dean of the Polytechnic College, demanding an FIR be registered against Ladman.

Pathak further alleged that NSUI has been involved in prior instances of threatening professors and perpetrating a fee scam, aiming to establish a climate of fear within the college. He expressed disappointment at the perceived inaction from the faculty, university administration, and the system as a whole, questioning if they fear retaliation from NSUI workers.

Dr. Dhanesh Patel, Principal of the Polytechnic College, acknowledged the incident and stated that statements have been taken from the involved students. An investigation is underway, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
