Indore : Member of Parliament Shankar Lalwani unveiled a website (www.sicklecell.co.in) designed by Dr. AK Dwivedi that offers detailed information on the illness to commemorate Sickle Cell Day.

On the occasion of Sickle Cell Day, Ayush Medical Welfare Foundation and Advanced Homeo Health Centre & Homoeopathic Medical Research Pvt Ltd Indore hosted a two-day event. The event intended to promote public awareness of sickle cell anaemia, a hereditary condition that has caused sufferers and their families much suffering.

Until recently, sickle cell anaemia was virtually unknown in Indore, but with the Prime Minister and the Governor of Madhya Pradesh increasingly concerned, public awareness has become critical. With little effectiveness in traditional medical therapies, sickle cell anaemia offers substantial obstacles for sufferers and their families. However, Dr. AK Dwivedi, a homoeopathic medicine specialist, believes that homoeopathy might help individuals with sickle cell anaemia. As a country famed for its youth, it is critical to educate and raise awareness of sickle cell anaemia among the next generation. Dr. Dwivedi also suggests getting blood testing and matching blood reports before getting married to avoid passing on sickle cell anaemia to future generations.

On World Sickle Cell Day, MP Shankar Lalwani spoke at a workshop on the need of homoeopathic therapy in sickle cell illness. Lalwani was the special guest at the two-day event, which was hosted at the Advance Ayush Wellness Centre and Advance Yoga and Naturopathy Hospital in Greater Brajeshwari Pipliyahana, Indore. During the ceremony, he formally launched Dr. Dwivedi’s website, www.sicklecell.co.in, which provides complete information about sickle cell anaemia.

As a special guest, renowned psychiatrist Dr. Vaibhav Chaturvedi from Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Indore attended the event. Dr. Chaturvedi emphasised the grief felt by the patient’s family members as a result of the financial burden of therapy as well as the emotional agony caused by repeated blood transfusions and hospitalisations, which often leads to depression.

The workshop was presided over by Dr. AK Dwivedi, a member of the Central Council for Homoeopathic Research in the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. Dr. Dwivedi spoke about the symptoms of sickle cell anaemia, which include exhaustion, weakness, shortness of breath, stomach discomfort, and difficulties doing everyday duties. He emphasised the efficacy of homoeopathy in resolving these concerns, stating that long-term homoeopathic therapy reduces the need for frequent blood transfusions and allows patients to resume their normal activities. Youth and medical students were among those who attended the programme and received free blood testing. Participants also actively participated in environmental protection by planting pomegranate and gooseberry bushes.

Following the programme, a free homoeopathic camp was held at Badgonda, Mhow tehsil, where homoeopathic medicines were supplied following a thorough assessment of sickle cell anaemia patients. Attendees were also given thorough information on food, yoga asanas, and daily routines to help them manage the condition efficiently.

Deepak Upadhyay led the programme, while Dr. Vivek Sharma expressed his appreciation for the occasion.
