According to the police, Jeet Pabari has been booked under Sections 376(2)(N) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The 29-year-old woman alleges that Pabari misled her into believing they would get married, establishing a relationship under this guise. After the engagement was called off, he reportedly ended the relationship.
In her statement, the woman revealed that she and Pabari first connected on Facebook in 2014 when he messaged her. Despite initial hesitations, they eventually met and became close friends. Both were studying in separate colleges but maintained a connection. “Our families were also acquainted with each other,” the woman shared.
The victim further claimed that Pabari took advantage of her trust and their relationship, only to abandon her once his desires were fulfilled. She alleged emotional and physical abuse, expressing distress over the broken engagement and the betrayal she endured.
The police have initiated an investigation based on her complaint. “We are looking into the claims and verifying the evidence provided. Further action will be taken following due process,” an official from Malviya Nagar Police Station stated.
The case has drawn attention due to Pabari’s connection to cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara, though Pujara has not made any statement regarding the matter.
