A fresh political and media controversy has erupted in the United States after First Lady Melania Trump and former President Donald Trump called for comedian Jimmy Kimmel to be removed from his late-night show on ABC, escalating an ongoing dispute between the Trump family and the television host.

The controversy stems from comments made during a recent monologue by Kimmel, which was broadcast prior to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting incident. In his remarks, Kimmel made reference to Melania Trump in a satirical segment that has now drawn strong backlash from the First Lady.

In a post shared on X, Melania Trump accused Kimmel of using “hateful and violent rhetoric,” claiming that his comments contribute to political division in the country. She further stated that ABC should take responsibility and act against the comedian, arguing that his content crosses the line from comedy into harmful speech.

She also criticized the network’s decision to continue airing Kimmel’s show, suggesting that ABC’s leadership was enabling what she described as “corrosive” rhetoric. Her remarks quickly gained attention across political and media circles, intensifying debate over free speech and broadcast responsibility.

Shortly after her statement, Donald Trump echoed similar sentiments on his social media platform Truth Social, calling for Kimmel’s immediate dismissal from both ABC and its parent company, Disney. Trump described Kimmel’s remarks as “beyond the pale” and accused him of promoting harmful narratives.

The controversy is the latest in a long-running conflict between Kimmel and the Trump political circle. The comedian has frequently criticized Trump and his policies in his monologues, making him a recurring figure in political debates surrounding late-night television satire.

This is not the first time Kimmel’s position at ABC has come under scrutiny. In a previous incident last year, the network briefly suspended him following regulatory pressure and public controversy, before reinstating him after widespread debate over free speech concerns.

Following the latest developments, several political figures and commentators have also weighed in, further polarizing the discussion. Critics of Kimmel argue that his comedy has become increasingly political, while supporters say the calls for his removal represent a threat to artistic and expressive freedom.

As of now, ABC has not issued an official response regarding the demands for Kimmel’s termination, and Kimmel’s representatives have also not released a public statement.

The situation continues to develop amid heightened political sensitivity and ongoing national debate over media influence, satire, and freedom of expression in the United States.
