Bhubaneswar (Odisha) : Since Kusum Tete became an MLA for Sundargarh, her popularity has risen steadily since she began working in social service.

Tete, who went from being an ordinary housewife to being elected as Sundargarh MLA on a BJP ticket in the 2019 Assembly elections, is working tirelessly for the tribal community to fulfil the promises she made to voters during the election and to raise her voice in the Odisha Legislative Assembly on important issues. Kusum, who was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly in 2019 from the Sundargarh constituency as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party

There is little doubt in the minds of many political experts that the issues for which she fought and won the right of the people of her constituency will remain a milestone in Sundargarh politics.

Tete has accomplished much in his brief political career, including the construction of the Balinga-Taparia Road, the construction of a barrage and bypass on the Ib River, the construction of roads in inaccessible areas, and the revitalization of long-neglected historical sites like the Rushi Caves and Central School. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she became a local celebrity by cooking for patients and their carers for 45 consecutive days.

Kusum Tete has become not only a prominent politician in Odisha, but also a prominent tribal leader in the state.
