Mumbai (Maharashtra) : Dr. Yogesh Dube is the Chairman of Bhartiya Vikas Sansthan®, a pioneering organisation dedicated to the social, economic, and cultural well-being of society. His life’s vision and mission are to see that people with disabilities have their rights. He is a well-known and respected national figure dedicated to the protection and promotion of children’s rights and the rights of PwDs (Persons with Disabilities / Divyangs) in the country. He is adamant that anyone with a disability is especially capable and should be given special attention to ensure their overall development and protection.
It is well established that children with various types of disabilities are frequently overlooked for their needs and concerns; Dr Yogesh Dube has frequently advocated with State Authorities for children with disabilities, including rehabilitative measures being taken, barrier-free environments being created at various levels, integration of these PwD children into the mainstream, provision of aids and appliances, provision of vocational training, and raising awareness. He has played an important role in policy development for the advancement of people with disabilities, child protection, and other important issues.
Dr. Yogesh Dube, as Chief Patron of the Divyang Wheelchair Cricket Association, has assisted in the organisation of cricket tournaments for Persons with Disabilities, in which a large number of them have participated. He has organised many camps and assisted many people with disabilities and senior citizens in obtaining aids and appliances in collaboration with the Ministry. He has taken up the cause of divyang-friendly infrastructure in public utility buildings in Mumbai and other Maharashtra cities. Dr. Yogesh Dube has also organised numerous campaigns for the welfare and health of the disabled, bringing the focus of the central and state governments on them so that their needs are met, as PwDs are an important part of the country and opportunities for gainful employment and decent living should be made available to them. During his meetings with state and/or district officials, he issued spot recommendations to all relevant departments to ensure that the needs and rights of disabled children are met. He has also emphasised the importance of effectively implementing the provisions of the RTE, Act for Children with Special Needs. Dr. Yogesh Dube is dedicated to working for the welfare of the PwDs and has focused on their skill development in order to secure employment and make them Atmanirbhar.
