Massive Fire Engulfs Oil Processing Unit in Surat; Firefighters Battle Blaze

Surat : A major fire erupted at Shyam Enterprises, an oil processing company, located on the Olpad-Saras road in Olpad taluka near Surat, Gujarat, on Tuesday afternoon. The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.

“The fire broke out at the oil processing company this afternoon,” Surat fire department official said.  “Three fire tenders have been rushed to the spot to bring the blaze under control. We are yet to enter the premises due to high flames and smoke and it is difficult to ascertain whether there are any casualties”

The intensity of the fire has caused significant alarm in the surrounding areas.  “The flames are huge, and thick black smoke can be seen billowing into the sky from as far away as Jahangirpura, which is more than 10 kilometers from the incident site,” said an eyewitness from Olpad town.

Local residents from Olpad and nearby villages have reportedly gathered near the fire scene. Fire officials are urging people to maintain a safe distance to avoid inhaling the smoke and possible debris.

“Our primary focus at the moment is to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby areas,” the fire department official added. “An investigation will be launched soon to determine the cause of the blaze.”
