Lok Sabha Election 2024 Results : BJP Declines Victory Celebration in Gujarat
Gujarat Chief CR Patil and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel addressed the media at the state party headquarters, Shri Kamalam, after the BJP's electoral triumph and its emergence as the single largest party nationally
GANDHINAGAR, GUJARAT : In the wake of the tragic fire incident at a game zone in Rajkot that claimed the lives of 28 individuals, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat has opted not to hold any celebratory events despite retaining 25 out of 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Gujarat Chief CR Patil and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel addressed the media at the state party headquarters, Shri Kamalam, after the BJP’s electoral triumph and its emergence as the single largest party nationally within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Paatil acknowledged the party’s success in maintaining a similar number of votes and percentage as in previous elections. He highlighted the impressive victory margins on various seats across Gujarat, except for Patan. However, he also admitted shortcomings, particularly the BJP’s inability to secure victory in the Banaskantha seat.
Expressing solidarity with the victims of the Rajkot tragedy, Paatil announced the BJP’s decision to forgo any victory celebrations. He emphasized that the focus should be on mourning the loss of innocent lives and extending support to the affected families during this difficult time.
Despite the somber mood, Paatil expressed optimism about the BJP-led NDA’s prospects nationally, noting that it is nearing the 300-seat mark. He revealed that several independent candidates have reached out to the party, expressing their willingness to support the alliance.
Patil reiterated the BJP’s unwavering support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, affirming that he will continue to lead the NDA and serve a full five-year term. He also clarified that prominent leaders such as Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar remain integral parts of the BJP-led alliance.
