‘Jana Nayagan’ Screening Halted in Chennai After Children Found Watching A-Rated Film

Screenings of Thalapathy Vijay’s latest political action drama Jana Nayagan were temporarily halted at several theatres in Chennai after authorities discovered children inside auditoriums despite the film carrying an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certification.

The incident was first reported during the 9:25 AM show at PVR Cinemas, Ampa Mall, where police officials entered the auditorium after learning that families had brought children into the screening. The show was paused while theatre staff requested parents with minors to leave the hall.

According to eyewitnesses, the screening remained suspended for nearly an hour before management resumed the show. Some viewers were reportedly offered refunds following the unexpected delay.

Multiple Theatres Affected

Reports indicate similar incidents occurred at other cinema halls across Chennai, with several screenings either delayed or temporarily cancelled as theatre staff enforced CBFC certification rules that prohibit viewers under 18 from attending A-rated films.

The incident has sparked discussions over whether theatres should verify the age of moviegoers before allowing entry to adult-certified screenings.
