Ahmedabad: Saturday marked the successful conclusion of the International Moot Court Competition 2023, hosted by the Unitedworld School of Law (UWSL) of Karnavati University at the university campus in Uvarsad, Gandhinagar. Karnavati University’s capstone event, the graduation ceremony, was held on the university’s expansive grounds. Karnavati University is a public, non-profit institution that places a premium on interdisciplinary education.

Honourable Justice Nisha M Thakore, a judge at the Gujarat High Court and Honourable Justice Ravikumar Tripathi, the chairperson of the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) – Gujarat, remained present as guests of honour during the ceremony, along with Dr P Lakshmi, Dean, UWSL.

The International Moot Court Competition 2023 is being held on the theme of Environmental Law and International Human Rights Law. Students from across top ranking law colleges and institutions from across the country including states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan, among others, in addition to students from universities in Nepal and Bangladesh, participated in the competition.

A team of students from Sastra Deemed University in Thanjavur Tamil Nadu won the International Moot Court Competition and walked away with a trophy. The team bagged a cash prize of Rs 50,000 as reward for their performance.

At Karnavati University, it is a constant endeavour of the team to adopt a holistic learning approach and prepare the youth for utilising their academic knowledge to solve real-world challenges. The international moot court competition is one such endeavour to provide the legal professionals of the future with a platform to gain knowledge about the law to students beyond classroom learning but also hone their oratory skills and enable them to use the academic concepts to address real life situations.

Honourable Justice Nisha Thakore and Honourable Justice Ravi Tripathi congratulated the students and encouraged them to continue empowering the world with their legal knowledge.

Legal experts from 24 different law firms evaluated the preliminary, quarter-final, and semi-final rounds of the event as esteemed judges, making it a great networking opportunity for students at Karnavati University.

Representatives of the Karnavati University Moot Court Society, United World School of Law and Karnavati University expressed immense gratitude to participants from across India, Bangladesh and Nepal for their presence and role in making the International Moot Court Competition 2023 a resounding success.
