IIM Kozhikode Sets Benchmark with Doubling of Women Enrolment in Executive PG Programme

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 18:  In a significant stride toward gender inclusivity, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has reported a 100% increase in women’s enrolment in its flagship two-year Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP). Women now make up 26% of the current cohort—double the participation rate seen across the previous three batches—highlighting a growing trend of women professionals seeking advanced leadership education from one of India’s premier business schools.

This notable surge is the result of IIM Kozhikode’s sustained efforts to foster greater inclusivity and expand access to executive education for working professionals. The development was acknowledged and celebrated by Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode, during a recent masterclass on ‘Mindful Leadership’ held in Bengaluru. Attended by industry leaders and senior professionals, the event also served as a platform to emphasize the institute’s commitment to attracting talent from diverse sectors and backgrounds.

During the session, Prof. Chatterjee explored the concept of mindfulness in leadership—underscoring how self-awareness, clarity, and conscious decision-making are essential tools for modern managers navigating complex challenges. He also shared insights on how the EPGP programme is evolving to deliver not just knowledge, but applicable skills rooted in innovation and accessibility.

He also reaffirmed the institute’s goal to enhance women’s participation across all programmes.

At the same event, Prof. Chatterjee unveiled his latest book, 1 Minute Wisdom, a collection of impactful reflections on leadership and life, published by Penguin India. Admissions for the 18th batch of EPGP are currently open, inviting applications from ambitious professionals ready to take the next step in their leadership journey.

Ranked second among IIMs in India and 22nd in the Asia-Pacific region in the QS Executive MBA Rankings 2025, IIM Kozhikode has solidified its position as a leading choice for mid-career professionals. The 15th batch of the EPGP recently graduated with a record-breaking 615 learners. The programme continues to draw learners from India’s major metropolitan cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune and Kolkata. Urban enrolment has surged from 51% in the 13th batch to 67% in the 17th batch, indicating a broader awareness of the programme’s value in preparing professionals for leadership roles that span functions and industries.

The institute has also seen increased enrolment from candidates with non-engineering backgrounds—rising to 25% of the batch cohort — as professionals from sectors beyond technology seek to strengthen their management acumen. This diversification reflects the widening appeal of IIMK’s curriculum among professionals seeking to transition into strategic and leadership positions.  “With over 5,000 professionals having progressed since inception, EPGP has been instrumental in shaping domain experts into strategic decision-makers. Around 30% of the current cohort comprises individuals with six to nine years of professional experience, indicating strong interest from mid-level managers aiming to accelerate their career growth.

Admissions are now open for the 18th batch of the Executive Postgraduate Programme in Management. The curriculum combines core subjects such as Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Strategy, Operations and Human Resources with contemporary electives like International Business, Corporate Accountability, and Digital Transformation.
