HCL Tech Opens Global Technology Centre at GIFT City

GANDHINAGAR: Gujarat received a major boost to its technology ecosystem as HCL Tech inaugurated its Global Technology Centre at GIFT City. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi described the new facility as a milestone for Gujarat’s IT sector, saying it will create quality employment for local youth while strengthening the state’s position as a global technology hub.

The centre has started operations with an initial team of 100 employees, most of whom are from Gujarat. It also features a state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lab, which is expected to support innovation in financial technology and emerging digital solutions.

“HCL Tech has set an example by creating employment opportunities for local youth instead of depending mainly on talent from other states. This approach will empower Gujarat’s young professionals and strengthen self-reliance,” Sanghavi said.

The Deputy Chief Minister praised HCL Tech’s ‘Come Back Home’ initiative, which encourages skilled Gujarati professionals working in cities such as Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad and even abroad to return home for career opportunities.

“Many talented Gujaratis had to leave their families to build careers elsewhere. HCL Tech’s initiative allows them to work on global projects while staying close to their loved ones. It is a model that other companies should follow,” he said.

Sanghavi also recalled the transformation of GIFT City from barren land into a world-class financial and technology hub. He credited the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who conceptualised the project during his tenure as Gujarat’s Chief Minister.

The Deputy Chief Minister expressed confidence that HCL Tech would continue expanding its presence in Gujarat. He said the company’s operations, currently spread across two floors, are expected to grow significantly in the coming years.

Senior HCL Tech officials, including Vijay Kumar, Rahul Singh and Sanjay Kaul, along with industry leaders and young professionals, attended the inauguration ceremony, marking another milestone in Gujarat’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
