Ahmedabad : Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for the development projects worth Rs 5,950 crore during his two day visit in Gujarat on October 30 and 31. The visit is also significant in the context of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, with political pundits in Gujarat seeing it as a launchpad for the BJP’s campaign.

On the first day of his visit, PM Modi  offered prayers at the Ambaji temple in Banaskantha district and inaugurated various development projects in Mehsana district. On the second day, he visited visited the Statue of Unity in Narmada district and participate in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations.

PM Modi flagged off the inaugural run of the Steam Heritage Special Train between Ekta Nagar (Kevadia) & Ahmedabad on 31st October, 2023 through video link from Ekta Nagar (Kevadiya) on the occasion of National Unity Day. This train is a befitting tribute to the great son of our country, the Iron Man of India – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

PM Modi’s visit to Gujarat is seen as an opportunity for the BJP to showcase its development agenda and connect with the people ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party is confident that the Prime Minister’s visit will boost its morale and galvanize its cadres.

Political Pundits’ Views

In Gujarat, opinions among political pundits remain diverse regarding Prime Minister Modi’s visit. While some foresee a positive shift in favor of the BJP as a result of this visit, others maintain a level of skepticism about its potential impact.

Those viewing it optimistically believe that Modi’s presence could bolster the BJP’s image and further solidify their support base in the region. They anticipate a boost in the party’s standing and the amplification of their agenda. Conversely, the skeptical voices express reservations about the visit’s actual influence, questioning whether it will significantly alter the political landscape or bring about substantial changes in voter sentiment. This divergence in opinions among Gujarat’s political commentators reflects the uncertainty and intricacies surrounding the potential outcomes of Prime Minister Modi’s visit.

Positive Views

Pundits who believe that PM Modi’s visit will be a positive development for the BJP argue that it will give the party an opportunity to highlight its development record and connect with the people. They also point out that the Prime Minister is still very popular in Gujarat, and his visit will help to boost the BJP’s morale and galvanize its cadres.

Negative Views

Pundits who are skeptical of the impact of PM Modi’s visit argue that the BJP is already facing a lot of anti-incumbency in Gujarat. They also point out that the party has been unable to address several key issues, such as inflation and unemployment. They believe that PM Modi’s visit will not have a significant impact on the BJP’s electoral prospects in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Neutral Views

Pundits who have expressed neutral views on PM Modi’s visit believe that it is too early to say what impact it will have on the BJP’s electoral prospects. They argue that the BJP will have to work hard to address the challenges it is facing in Gujarat if it wants to win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Overall, PM Modi’s visit to Gujarat is seen as a significant event in the context of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The BJP will be hoping that the Prime Minister’s visit will help to boost its morale and galvanize its cadres. However, the party will also need to address the challenges it is facing in Gujarat if it wants to win the elections.
