Gujarat : Tribal Rapper Mesmerise Audience at International Hornbill Festival 

The first tribal rapper from Gujarat, Kamdi showcased his unique talent by singing and rapping the traditional Dangi rhythm and the song associated with Dang Na Dungar Dev (Mountain God of Dang) in the Hornbill festival.

Surat : TR Kamdi, a tribal rapper hailing from tribal hinterland of Dang in Gujarat, captivated the audience with a rendition of Dungar Dev (Mountain God)  song at the prestigious International Hornbill Festival in Nagaland.

The first tribal rapper from Gujarat, Kamdi showcased his unique talent by singing and rapping the traditional Dangi rhythm and the song associated with Dang Na Dungar Dev (Mountain God of Dang) in the Hornbill festival.

The International Hornbill Festival, organized by the Nagaland Government, spans from December 1st to December 10th and holds significant popularity across India. Drawing numerous tourists from both the country and abroad to Kisama, Nagaland, this year’s festival saw an exceptional performance by Dang Na Dangi Boy TR, leaving the audience enthralled.

Among the various presentations by tribal groups, the Tata Steel Foundation’s Samwad Rhythm of the Earth group, alongside Ladakh’s tribal Dasug band, showcased their cultural works.

Notably, the Rhythm Group comprises artists from Gujarat, Kerala, Assam, and Jharkhand. Within this diverse ensemble, TR Kamdi, a Kunbi tribal youth from Dang, Gujarat, presented the song “Dhavla Bael,” sung in honor of “Dungar Dev” from Dang.

TR Kamdi made history as the first artist from the tribal community of Dang, as well as Gujarat, to perform on such a grand stage, showcasing his artistry on the international platform.
