Gujarat : Teen raped in a Vadodara village, Accused on the Run

Police have registered a case against the accused under Section 376(A) of the Indian Penal Code for rape and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

Vadodara : A chilling case of sexual assault has shaken the quiet village of Savli in Gujarat’s Vadodara district. A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped and assaulted by a local youth, Dilip Ranjitsinh Gohil, late Sunday night.

Police have registered a case against the accused under Section 376(A) of the Indian Penal Code for rape and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

According to reports, the incident occurred around 11 pm when Gohil lured the victim to meet him in his backyard. Once there, he allegedly subjected her to sexual assault. The victim, however, managed to escape his clutches and immediately reported the incident to the Savli police station.

The news has sent shockwaves through the village, with residents demanding justice for the victim girl. Savli police have responded promptly, taking the minor’s statement and initiating a medical examination. Their investigation is currently focused on gathering evidence and apprehending the absconding accused.

“We are treating this case with utmost seriousness and are actively working to nab the culprit,” said a police official, who declined to divulge further details about the ongoing investigation.
