Bharuch: Commuters faced chaos and health concerns on Thursday morning after a tanker carrying acetic acid rammed into a parked truck near Ankleshwar on National Highway 48. The impact caused the tanker to overturn, spilling the hazardous chemical onto the road and leaving drivers and passengers struggling with eye irritation and breathing problems.

The incident unfolded on the Panoli bridge, disrupting traffic flow and raising immediate alarm. As reports emerged of the overturned tanker and leaking acid, the fire department swiftly dispatched a team to the scene. The spilled chemical posed a significant health risk, with passing motorists reporting discomfort and respiratory issues.

“There was a strong, pungent smell in the air,” recounted one commuter, Harshad Patel. “My eyes started watering, and it was difficult to breathe. We all panicked and tried to cover our faces with whatever we could.”

The fire department personnel, equipped with specialized gear, worked tirelessly for over an hour to contain the leak and neutralize the spilled acid. Their prompt action prevented further spread and minimized potential harm.
