Gandhidham, Gujarat – The competitive roar of table tennis is set to echo across Gandhidham as Gujarat’s premier paddlers converge for the Deendayal Port Authority 2nd Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2025. With eyes firmly fixed on consecutive titles, Ahmedabad’s sensation Chitrax Bhatt and Gandhinagar’s powerhouse Radhapriya Goel enter the fray as overwhelming favorites in the men’s and women’s categories respectively. The stage is meticulously set at the Late M. P Mittra Indoor Stadium, Haresh Sangtani Sports Complex, Adipur, from June 26 to 29, promising four days of intense, high-octane action.
The tournament, organized by the Kachchh District Table Tennis Association under the aegis of the Gujarat State Table Tennis Association, boasts Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla as its title sponsors, with Stiga providing the official equipment. This partnership highlights the growing support for table tennis in the region, fueled by entities like DPA, which celebrates its highest-ever 150+ MMT handling in 2024-25.
Chitrax Bhatt and Radhapriya Goel arrive in Gandhidham with significant momentum, having both clinched their respective titles at the 1st state ranking tournament held in Bhavnagar earlier this month. Their dominant performances have cemented their status as the players to beat, but the road to another championship will not be without its challenges.
In the women’s draw, Surat’s formidable duo of Filzahfatema Kadri and Frenaz Chipia are widely tipped to mount a serious challenge to Goel’s winning streak. Their aggressive play and strategic prowess could well disrupt the anticipated final outcomes, ensuring a thrilling contest for the top spot.
With a staggering total of 515 entries across various categories, the tournament is a vibrant showcase of Gujarat’s table tennis talent. Beyond the senior categories, the junior divisions are brimming with promising young athletes eager to make their mark. Names like Riya Jayswal, Pratha Pawar, Mouboni Chatterjee, Janmejay Patel, Aayush Tanna, and Daniya Godil are all vying for top honors, signaling a bright future for the sport in the state.
Local hopefuls are also geared up to deliver glory on home turf. Young talents such as Dhruv Bhambani (U-13 & U-15 boys), Rehansh Singhvi (U-11 boys), Yugpratap Singh (U-13 boys), Siddhi Singhvi (U-13 girls), Aarav Singhvi (U-15 boys), Anaisha Singhvi (U-15 & U-17 girls), and Nairit Vaidya (U-15 boys) are expected to leverage home advantage and impress the crowds.
“Top-notch arrangements are put in place for our state-level athletes during the tournament,” stated Tulsi Sujan, President of KDTTA, expressing gratitude to their generous sponsor, DPA. “This meticulous planning ensures our players can perform at their best.”
Manish Hingorani, Secretary of KDTTA, detailed the operational readiness, confirming that “as many as eight Stiga tables will be used for the tournament.” He further assured smooth proceedings, noting that “a team of 20 qualified technical officials will be overseeing the event to ensure fair play and efficient management.”
