Ahmedabad : The electoral battleground in Gujarat witnesses a flurry of activity as key political figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat BJP President CR Paatil, officially throw their hats into the ring by filing nominations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The filing of nominations also saw the entry of other notable contenders, adding to the fervor of political competition in the state.

Paresh Dhanani of Congress filed his nomination papers from the Rajkot Lok Sabha seat against union minister Parshottam Rupala, while Poonam Madam filed her nominations from the Jamnagar seat.

In a display of political significance and symbolism, Union Home Minister Amit Shah marked his candidacy for the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat, following in the footsteps of stalwarts like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and  Lal Krishna Advani.

Shah said, “I have submitted my nomination for Lok Sabha from Gandhinagar seat today. It is a matter of great pride for me that the BJP has given me the opportunity to represent this region from the seat from which Advaniji and Atalji contested the elections and PM Narendra Modi is a voter.  I have been MLA and MP from this seat for 30 years. From here I have reached the parliament from a very small booth worker. The people of this area have given me immense love”

Meanwhile, in Navsari, Gujarat BJP President CR Paatil embarked on a vibrant rally alongside Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, drawing massive crowds of supporters on Thursday to file his nomination papers. However, Paatil missed the Vijay Muhurat and had to return from Navsari.

On Friday,  Paatil, accompanied by his enthusiastic supporters, ensured his presence at the collector’s office during the auspicious Vijay Muhurat, reinforcing his commitment to the electoral process.

The political landscape of Gujarat further witnessed the convergence of rival candidates, with CR Paatil and Congress nominee Naishedh Desai crossing paths at the Navsari Lok Sabha seat. Amidst the charged atmosphere of form-filling, Desai extended a gesture of goodwill towards his opponent, prompting a cordial exchange between the two contenders. Desai murmured something in Paatil’s ears, to which Paatil laughed and went away with his supporters.

As the campaign trail gains momentum, the contest for Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat promises to be fiercely competitive, with each candidate vying to garner support and secure victory. The dynamic interplay of personalities, ideologies, and public sentiment will shape the outcome of the elections, influencing the trajectory of Gujarat’s political landscape in the days to come.

The filing of nominations by prominent figures in Gujarat politics sets the stage for a compelling electoral battle, characterized by fervent campaigning, spirited rallies, and strategic maneuvering.
