Vadodara : An internet video has caused anger by showing a violent confrontation between African and Indian students at the Parul University campus dormitory in Vadodara, Gujarat. The video, shared on Twitter by the user ‘Ghar Ke Kalesh’, claims that the students got into a fight due to racial comments made by one group against the other. The event has sparked apprehensions over racial tensions at the institution and the security of its foreign students.

The video, which has gained considerable attention on the internet, shows numerous youngsters involved in a violent altercation. There is audible shouting and scuffling, with people engaging in physical altercations by throwing punches and kicks. The video’s title suggests that the confrontation was triggered by purported racist remarks made by Indian students against African pupils, however the specific events are not fully known.

Udit Kumar Singh also posted on Twitter about the altercation between African and Gujarati students at Parul University campus.

Parul University has not released an official remark on the event, despite the video’s widespread popularity. The absence of communication has intensified internet conjecture and criticism, prompting many users to call for an inquiry and necessary action against individuals implicated.

Shortly after a paper leak controversy, Parul University was shaken by this occurrence, resulting in the arrest of a student and an office assistant in November 2023. The university’s image has been negatively impacted by recent events, prompting questions about its capacity to maintain a secure and welcoming environment for all students.

The purported racial aspect of the present occurrence adds an additional level of intricacy to the scenario. The video is a harsh reminder of how racial tensions may develop into violence, but the details of the confrontation are not known. Parul University must handle this matter directly by conducting a comprehensive investigation and putting in place measures to avoid such situations in the future.

The university’s actions in the next days will be attentively observed. The institution is obligated to guarantee the safety and welfare of all students, irrespective of their background or race. A social activist in Vadodara emphasised the need for an open and deliberate strategy to reestablish trust and create a more inclusive campus climate.
