Gujarat : Gas Cylinder Explosion in Palanpur Scrap Yard Leaves 78 Residents Suffocated

PALANPUR, GUJARAT : A devastating gas cylinder explosion in a scrap yard at Malan Darwaja in Palanpur, Gujarat  has left 78 residents suffocating, with 30 of them requiring immediate hospitalization. The incident occurred when a gas cylinder burst or leaked, releasing harmful fumes into the surrounding area.

Residents in the vicinity experienced severe breathing difficulties following the explosion. The Superintendent of Palanpur Civil Hospital confirmed that a total of 78 individuals were affected, with 30 being admitted to the hospital for treatment. The condition of one patient is particularly critical, necessitating the use of a ventilator, while others are receiving oxygen therapy.

A local woman, describing the chaotic scene, said, “I don’t know what happened next to the building in which we live, but something happened in the air that suddenly caused vomiting, so we came to Civil. My son’s wife is admitted for suffocation.”

The sudden onset of symptoms and the rapid response required have highlighted the gravity of the situation. Emergency services and medical personnel are working tirelessly to provide care for those affected. The incident has raised concerns about safety regulations and the handling of hazardous materials in populated areas.
