Gujarat : Death of Inmate Sparks Probe at Sabarmati Central Jail

Ahmedabad : At the Sabarmati Central Jail, Gujarat a tragic incident unfolded as an undertrial inmate took his own life by hanging, prompting an investigation by the police. Authorities recovered a suicide note, leading to the initiation of an accidental death case.

Ranip police station sources confirmed the incident reported by Sabarmati Central Jail officials. Upon notification, a police team conducted necessary procedures within the jail premises. Subsequently, the body of the undertrial inmate, Khusal Jadav, was transferred for postmortem examination.

In a poignant discovery, a suicide note was retrieved from the deceased’s pocket, containing a brief message asking for forgiveness for a perceived mistake. However, family members of the deceased have raised allegations, asserting that this is a concealed murder, disguising itself as a suicide. They have insisted that the circumstances be treated as a custodial death and thoroughly investigated.

Despite these claims, the police have tentatively dismissed the allegations, citing the contents of the suicide note as a primary basis.
