Ahmedabad : The Ahmedabad cybercrime team made a significant arrest involving Hitendra Pithadiya, the Congress party’s State SC Cell President. Pithadiya faces allegations of defaming the priest of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple through his activities on social media platforms.

Sources within the cybercrime division revealed that a criminal complaint had been lodged against Hitendra, citing various sections of the Indian Penal Code related to forgery aimed at damaging reputation, intention to insult the modesty of an individual, and engaging in malicious acts. Additionally, sections under the Information and Technology Act were invoked.

Pithadiya allegedly utilized his Twitter account to post a picture featuring a Ram Temple priest alongside a woman, purportedly with the intention of causing offense to Hindu sentiments. This action prompted the authorities to take action against him.

The police have indicated their intent to present Pithadiya before the court and seek remand in connection with the case.
