Gandhinagar : Congress MLA Kirit Patel from Patan, Gujarat has issued a strong ultimatum, expressing his intent to resign from both the state assembly and the party if his demands are not met.

Speculation heightened earlier today, with strong rumors swirling around the potential resignation of Congress MLA Vimal Chudasama from Somnath constituency. Chudasama clarified, dismissing these rumors as attempts to tarnish his reputation.

This marks the second term for Patan MLA Kirit Patel, a figure closely associated with the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti movement. Elected in 2017, Patel remains an active and vocal proponent within the Congress ranks and maintains a close alliance with PAAS leader Hardik Patel.

His grievances center on what he perceives as the party rewarding individuals who acted against its interests in previous elections, viewing such appointments as encouragement of anti-party activities. Patel has indicated his willingness to depart from the party unless these concerns are addressed.

Long regarded as a fence-sitter in political circles, Patel has frequently been at the center of speculation about potential defection to the BJP. However, current indications suggest that the Congress state leadership is not yielding to Patel’s demands, interpreting his actions as an attempt to exert pressure on the party.

Amit Chavda, a Congress leader in the state Assembly, addressed the situation, confirming a personal conversation with Kirit Patel to resolve the matter.

Amidst a burgeoning political resignation atmosphere in the state, two opposition bench MLAs have tendered their resignations within a week. Today’s rumors surrounding Vimal Chudasama’s alleged resignation prompted a swift response from Chudasama himself, affirming his loyalty to the Congress party and attributing the rumors to deliberate attempts by political adversaries to besmirch his staunch commitment to the party’s cause.

“In recent times, there have been rumors suggesting my departure from the Congress party. I categorically deny these falsehoods. The Congress has been instrumental in shaping my political journey, and I remain firmly aligned with its values,” clarified Chudasama, aiming to dispel any doubts about his allegiance.

As these rumblings reverberate through the political landscape, the Congress grapples with internal discord while striving to preserve its unity in the face of mounting challenges.
