Gandhinagar : In a significant step toward strengthening Gujarat’s road network, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved a ₹779 crore proposal for constructing major and minor bridges across 32 roads in the state. This public-oriented decision, aimed at streamlining transportation and boosting connectivity, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure for citizens’ ease of living and supporting industrial and trade growth.

The approved projects will involve building new bridges and replacing old and weak structures with modern ones. The initiative is part of a broader plan by the state’s Road and Building Department to improve transportation safety and convenience. Additionally, the construction of these bridges is expected to resolve traffic congestion issues caused by narrow bridge structures on busy routes.

This recent allocation is part of Chief Minister Patel’s continued efforts to enhance Gujarat’s road infrastructure. Over the last two years, the Chief Minister has sanctioned ₹1,307 crore for 265 projects, including bridge widening, reconstruction, and repairs. With this latest approval, the total amount allocated for road infrastructure projects now stands at ₹2,086 crore, covering 297 projects across the state.

The newly sanctioned ₹779 crore will fund the construction of strategically important bridges, ensuring seamless connectivity for both urban and rural areas. Improved roads and bridges will facilitate the movement of goods and people, fostering economic growth while providing citizens with safer and faster travel routes.

Highlighting the significance of the decision, the state government emphasized that the strengthened road infrastructure will benefit all sectors, including industries, trade, and agriculture. It will also improve access to essential services and contribute to the overall development of Gujarat.

The government’s proactive approach to modernizing road networks is not only addressing current infrastructure challenges but also laying the foundation for future growth. The focus on upgrading old bridges and constructing new ones aligns with the state’s vision of sustainable development and economic prosperity.

The Road and Building Department has expressed confidence that these initiatives will significantly enhance the quality of transportation, ensuring smoother traffic flow and reducing travel time. The improved road infrastructure will also play a key role in attracting investments and boosting Gujarat’s position as an industrial hub.
