Gujarat CM allocates Rs 1,664 Cr to 4 municipal corporations 

Under Swarnim Jayanti Mukyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, the CM has granted in-principle approval to allocate ₹1664 crore for 502 different development works in the cities of Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Gandhinagar.

Gandhinagar : Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has adopted an approach focused on enhancing Ease of Living to improve the quality of life and well-being of residents in the state’s towns and cities.

Under Swarnim Jayanti Mukyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, the CM has granted in-principle approval to allocate ₹1664 crore for 502 different development works in the cities of Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Gandhinagar. Furthermore, the Chief Minister has given in-principle approval for the allocation of ₹67.70 crore for the Underground Sewerage Scheme Part-II to the municipalities of Bhachau, Dhanera, Dakor, and KhedBrahma. The CM has also approved the proposals submitted by the State Urban Development and Urban Housing Department concerning these allocations.

On the occasion of Gujarat’s fiftieth anniversary, the then Chief Minister and current Prime Minister  Narendra Modi launched Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana in 2010 to encourage planned urban development. This multi-purpose scheme allocates funds for various social and physical infrastructure projects, including roadways, drainage, water supply, streetlights, and more. Its goals include alleviating traffic congestion in cities and metros, facilitating the construction of flyover bridges, enhancing urban mobility, and establishing a unique identity for each city.

In alignment with this initiative, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has granted in-principle approval to the Surat Municipal Corporation to allocate ₹380 crore for the construction of 6 flyover bridges, designed to ease traffic in Surat city and alleviate the burden on roadways. The Chief Minister has sanctioned ₹380 crore for 6 flyover bridge projects in Surat. This includes the entry and exit ramp on Surat-Kamraj Road in East Zone A (Varacha), a flyover bridge at Shyamdham Mandir Junction, a flyover bridge near APMC Junction on Surat-Bardoli Road, On Vallabhacharya Road, an entry ramp to the existing Srinathji flyover bridge, a flyover bridge at the Middle Ring Road Maharana Pratap Junction in the South East (Limbayat) zone, and a flyover bridge at the Nilgiri Circle junction.

Additionally, the Chief Minister has granted in-principle approval to allocate ₹316 crore from Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana for 46 development works in the outgrowth areas of Ahmedabad.

These 46 projects include drainage, sewage plants, roadway improvements, and various works in the West Zone, North Zone, North West Zone, and South West Zone.

The Chief Minister has sanctioned ₹68.04 crore for the Vadodara Municipal Corporation to implement 50 projects in outgrowth areas. These projects will focus on water supply, drainage, rainwater management, road improvements, and street lighting in the west, north, and south zones of Vadodara city. Additionally, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation has received in-principle approval for ₹755.96 crores to fund 370 infrastructure projects, which include water supply, drainage, street lighting, solid waste management, sewerage, storm drains, and various building, bridge, park, and garden projects across different zones.

The Chief Minister has also sanctioned ₹144.43 crore for Gandhinagar’s infrastructure development, with ₹36 crore earmarked for five major projects. These projects focus on landscaping, beautification, and public space enhancements along the roads from Koba Circle to Indira Bridge, Koba Circle to Tapovan, Koba Circle to Rakshashakti Circle, and from Rakshashakti Circle to Shahpur Circle. Additional beautification will also be carried out on the PDPU-Gift City Road.

Grants have been approved for various projects, including three road works, the renovation of six gardens, and stormwater disposal and drainage lines in areas like Raysan and Sargasan. The Chief Minister has sanctioned ₹97.43 crore for a total of 13 physical infrastructure works.

This includes the construction of the Swarnim Cultural Center at Raysan and a New Party Plot at Randesan to enhance social infrastructure facilities within the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, along with support for Anganwadis and primary health centres in the municipal area. ₹11 crores has been allocated for the renovation and construction of these centres. A total of ₹144.43 crore will be designated for 22 projects in Gandhinagar.

Under Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana for the years 2021-22 to 2024-25, the state government has allocated ₹9591.49 crore for infrastructural development works in 8 metropolitan areas, ₹1,388.85 crore for outgrowth area projects, and ₹1141.88 crore for flyover bridges, resulting in a total allocation of ₹12,122 crore.
