Ahmedabad : The assassination of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the chief of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, in Jaipur on December 5, has triggered widespread anger and demonstrations across neighboring Gujarat.

Gogamedi was fatally shot at his residence in the Pink City, igniting immediate protests across the state’s various regions on December 6. Furious youth and Rajput community leaders took to the streets, vehemently protesting the killing and demanding swift action.

In Surat, Karni Sena members presented a memorandum to the district collector, urging the harshest possible measures against the perpetrators. Many highlighted the withdrawal of Gogamedi’s security cover as a crucial factor.

Ashaba Vaghela, the President of the Rajkot chapter of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, expressed shock over the incident. She voiced hope that the new BJP government in Rajasthan would ensure justice and deliver the severest punishment to those responsible.

Vaghela revealed that their leader had been aware of threats to his life and had formally requested police protection, which was not provided.

Parts of Banaskantha in North Gujarat observed a shutdown to protest the assassination. Major marketplaces in Panthawada, Dantiwada, remained closed, with a rally held in solidarity.

Local Karni Sena leaders have called for a continued shutdown on December 7, expressing hope for cooperation from shop owners.
