Gujarat : Ahmedabad Police Officer Caught Sleeping Drunk in Car, video goes viral

Ahmedabad : A video depicting what seems to be a drunken police officer in a white car has gone viral, igniting a firestorm of anger in Ahmedabad. A bottle of liquor can be seen on the back seat of the vehicle in the footage shot in the Anandnagar area, and the cop is seen slumped over it. The vehicle’s licence plate, GJ-01-RS-7983, has also gone viral on the internet.

A preliminary inquiry has been launched by the Anandnagar police station in response to the footage that went viral. “We have filed a complaint in light of the video evidence,” said PI Abhishek Dhawan, who is now directing the station. “Initial inquiries reveal the individual in the car was previously part of the D-staff at Anandnagar police station.”

In most police stations, the administrative and clerical tasks are handled by the D-staff, who are also called ministerial staff. Neither active patrolling nor law enforcement tasks are part of their responsibilities.

The time and place of the recording, as well as the officer’s present job status, are among the details that the inquiry hopes to uncover.

“We are extremely concerned about these claims,” PI Dhawan said. The person will face severe consequences if the inquiry finds any misconduct. Any action that damages the department’s reputation or the public’s faith in law enforcement will not be tolerated.

There has been a lot of talk about the event online, with many people demanding that the police be punished quickly. Although some have voiced worries about the force’s image as a whole, others have stressed the need to hold everyone responsible for their acts, regardless of their occupation.
