Gujarat : Adani Foundation Empowers Women’s Livelihoods Through Equipment Distribution on International Women’s Day

Surat : In commemoration of International Women’s Day, Adani Foundation orchestrated a significant event at Bhatlai village in Choryasi taluka, underscoring their commitment to women’s empowerment. The program entailed the distribution of equipment and support to Mahila Sakhi Mandal, facilitated by esteemed guests, including state government minister Mukeshbhai Patel and Choryasi MLA Sandeep Desai. This initiative aimed to bolster the livelihoods of women in the region and foster their economic independence.

The partnership between Saheli Sakhi Mandal and Adani Foundation proved transformative. Initially, the sisters were encouraged to showcase their culinary skills, preparing 50 dishes during an Adani Foundation event. The delectable cooking by the members garnered widespread appreciation, paving the way for subsequent orders and contracts within the village and neighboring areas. What began as a modest catering service has flourished into a thriving enterprise, with Saheli Sakhi Mandal now catering to over 20 orders per month, serving hundreds of people in the vicinity.

Despite encountering initial hurdles, the sisters persevered, buoyed by the unwavering support of Adani Foundation. Besides financial assistance, the foundation acted as a catalyst, providing training, equipment support, and facilitating marketing opportunities for the Sakhi Mandals. This collaborative effort has empowered women to not only generate income but also assert their economic agency in their communities.

The International Women’s Day celebration at Bhatlai served as a platform to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of women entrepreneurs. Dignitaries including Mukeshbhai Patel, Sandeep Desai, DRDA Director MB Prajapati, and other local leaders graced the occasion, reaffirming their commitment to women’s empowerment.

Several Sakhi Mandals in the vicinity, including Sakhi Mandal Vanswa, Pardevi, Bhatlai, Roshni Sakhimandal Damka, and Santoshi Ma Sakhimandal, received material support to enhance their respective endeavors. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the assistance received, highlighting the pivotal role played by Adani Foundation in their journey towards self-reliance.
