Attacks on BJP Leaders in Gujarat Sparks Concern

Ahmedabad : Attacks on BJP leaders are increasing in Gujarat, causing tension among the party leadership. In a fresh incident, Vasalji Tunwar, president of Lakhpat taluka BJP in Kutch was brutally attacked over the scuffle on the construction of a room in the temple premises in Lakhpat. 

Sources said that the accused hit the BJP president with some hard object on his head when the scuffle started over the construction of a room at Mataji temple. Kunwar, who was bleeding profusely was immediately shifted to the hospital in Bhuj. 

The police have taken action by getting the CCTV footage of the entire incident  and registered a case and the police. The accused identified as  Balwantsinh Bherubha Sodha was arrested. 

Police stated that the incident occured during the construciton of a separate room at Mataji’s temple. The accused arrived on the spot and protested the construction of room and threatened that he will demolish the structure. However, Lakhpat taluka BJP president Tunwar arrived at the spot and started the efforts to pacify the agitated resident. The agitated accused picked up a stone and hit on the heath of othe BJP president. 

Tunwar was first given first aid at Dayapar Community Health Center and then referred to Bhuj through 108 for further treatment. Dayapar PSI KA Jadeja said that efforts have been made to register a case regarding the incident. Now the attacker Balwantsingh Bherubha Sodha has been rounded up by the police.

On October 2, Chetan Shiyal, president of Amreli district youth BJP sustained critical head injuries when he was attacked during the altercation with the fishermen over the parking of vehicles at Jaffrabad jetty. Shiyal, who had received serious head injuries after he was attacked with an axe, was shifted to Bhavnagar for treatment. 

BJP MLA from Rajula assembly seat, Hira Solanki who is the father-in-law of Chetan Shiyal, rushed to Bhavnagar along with senior BJP leaders from Amreli district following the attack on Shiyal. It has come to light that a fight broke out after an altercation with fishermen over parking of vehicles on the road at Jaffrabad Jetty. A video of this fight has gone viral where Chetan Shiyal is seen brandishing a revolver. 

Complainant Chandrakantbhai Siyal and other witnesses were returning from fishing at the T-type jetty of Jafarabad port. While Chandrakant and other fishermen were going towards the jetty to unload the fish stock, a snow-laden tractor of Yashwant Baraiya, the accused in the case, broke down in the middle of the road. The accused including Yashwant Baraiya got agitated when he was told by Chandrakant to keep his tractor on the other side to clear the road. Chetan Shiyal arrived on the spot following his father’s altercation with the accused. The accused were provoked seeing Shiyal at the scene and attacked him fatally with an axe and looted the gold chain.
