Jamnagar | Gujarat — A wave of shock and grief has engulfed Jamnagar and Rajkot after a 14-year-old girl, Anandi Rajeshbhai Modi from Chandi Bazar, died suddenly of a suspected heart attack while playing with children at her maternal uncle’s residence in Rajkot.

The incident occurred during a family visit on the occasion of Purushottam month. According to family members, Anandi had been in high spirits after dinner at a local restaurant before she went out to play with other children, where she suddenly collapsed on the ground.

“She was completely normal, smiling and playing like any other child. Suddenly she fell and did not respond,” said her maternal uncle Gopal Kataria, recalling the heartbreaking moment. “We rushed her to Synergy Hospital immediately, but despite the doctors’ efforts, she could not be saved.”

Doctors at the hospital declared her dead after initial treatment attempts failed, with preliminary reports suggesting a cardiac arrest as the cause of death.

The sudden demise has left the family devastated, with large crowds gathering for her last rites in Jamnagar. Local residents also stepped forward to support the grieving family during the emotional farewell.

“This has completely shaken us. She had no prior illness and was always active,” the family said in mourning.

The incident has once again raised concerns about increasing cases of sudden cardiac issues among children and teenagers, prompting calls for greater awareness of youth heart health and preventive screening.
