Surat : A vigilant jawan of the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Surat Railway Station saved an elderly man from a near-fatal accident when he slipped while attempting to board a moving train. The incident, which took place at 10:47 pm, was captured on CCTV and has since come to light.
The elderly passenger was trying to board the Indore Express on platform number 1 when he lost his footing. As he slipped, he got trapped between the train and the platform but managed to hold onto the train’s handle, causing him to be dragged along as the train moved forward. The dangerous situation could have ended in tragedy had it not been for the quick reflexes of GRP jawan Gulabsinh Mansukhbhai, who was on duty at the station.
As soon as he noticed the old man struggling, Gulabsinh sprinted towards him and, with great presence of mind, pulled him to safety just in time. Other passengers at the station, upon witnessing the incident, rushed to assist. Fortunately, the elderly man was unharmed and, after recovering from the shock, was able to continue his journey.
The entire rescue was recorded on the station’s CCTV cameras, highlighting the bravery and dedication of the railway police in ensuring passenger safety. Such incidents serve as a stark reminder of the dangers of boarding or deboarding moving trains, reinforcing the importance of following railway safety guidelines.
The heroic act of GRP jawan Gulabsinh Mansukhbhai has been widely praised, with railway officials and passengers lauding his timely intervention. Many have called for recognition of his efforts in preventing what could have been a fatal accident.
