Gandhinagar: The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has deployed three new electric buses that run between various points in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar and Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) in an effort to improve green transport options to and from GIFT City.

Narol to GIFT City, Shantipura-SG Highway to GIFT City, and Gandhinagar Pathikashram to GIFT City are the three routes that the buses now service. Taking into account the increasing demand for public transport, office hours, and the need for improved connection with important transit sites in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, three routes have been planned.

Last year, GIFT City and Chartered Speed Limited agreed to work together to provide electric vehicle (EV) transportation services, and as of this year, four EV buses are operating on routes that link GIFT City to the cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Over 20,000 individuals who work in GIFT City will benefit from the low-cost, convenient transportation provided by the electric buses operated by GSRTC along three routes.

“For a modern smart city like GIFT City, sustainability is key for driving growth and development,” stated Mr Tapan Ray, MD and Group CEO of GIFT City. Since its beginning, GIFT City has used environmentally friendly practises to prevent its rapid expansion from negatively impacting the local ecosystem. Commuters to and from GIFT City would benefit greatly from the recent launch of three new electric buses by GSRTC. We installed these e-mobility facilities last year.

Construction is underway on a Metro line that will link GIFT City with the rest of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, complementing the electric buses that now run there. Many GIFT City employees already make the daily trip from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, and that number is only expected to grow as more businesses express interest in establishing a presence there.
