Dr. Kamal H. Mohammed Honored with Satyajit Ray Award for ‘Daring Prince’

Renowned Human Rights Activist's Autobiography Named Best of 2024; Ceremony Inaugurated by Adoor Gopalakrishnan.

Human rights activist and writer Dr. Kamal H. Mohammed received the prestigious Satyajit Ray Award for his autobiography, ‘Daring Prince,’ recognized as 2024’s best. The award ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram featured eminent personalities.

Kavalangad (Kerala) [India], June 4:

The esteemed Satyajit Ray Award was recently conferred upon Dr. Kamal H. Mohammed, a prominent human rights and social activist, as well as a distinguished writer. The award ceremony took place at the Surya Ganesham Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram and was formally inaugurated by the venerable Bharat Vibhushan Shri. Adoor Gopalakrishnan.

The Satyajit Ray Film Society recognized Dr. Kamal’s autobiography, titled “Daring Prince,” as the outstanding autobiography of 2024. The accolade was jointly presented to Dr. Kamal H. Mohammed by acclaimed writer George Onakkur and KP Sudheera. The event was presided over by Sajin Lal, Chairman of the Film Society and a film director. Notable figures including Ramesh Narayanan, Balu Kiriath, Prabha Varma, and S. Kumar delivered speeches during the function.

Kamal, a native of Kannur, currently lives in Neryamangalam, Talakodu. Dr. Kamal’s autobiography has received many awards, including the Pondicherry Ratna Award, Delhi Ratna Award, London Book of World 2024, UN Book of Records 2025, and the fifth edition of the Swami Vivekananda Excellence Award in 2025. NIILM University has also honored him with an honorary doctorate. Kamal also received the Sahitya Sparsh Awards in 2025 in recognition of his significant impact on literature. Its Malayalam translation, titled Dheeranaya Rajakumaran, is now available on Amazon. The book has also won the G.K. Pillai Award. It has also been shortlisted for the Sahitya Sparsh Awards in 2026.
