The Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA) in Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Rajkot have gone on strike and called for a withdrawal of doctors’ services . However, the emergency services have continued at the government hospitals, while some OPDs are functioning normally in the New Civil Hospital (NCH) in Surat.

There is a long queue of patients outside the OPDs across all the government  hospitals in the State.  On the other hand, doctors working in 18 OPDs at Sayaji Hospital in Vadodara will stay away from attending the medical services, except emergency services. The resident doctors gathered for a protest in front of the respective medical colleges and hospitals across Gujarat.

Rajkot JDA President Sandeep Sharma said that till date the victim families have not got justice in the incident in Kolkata. As per the instructions given by our association, the resident doctors of Rajkot have also joined the strike against this. Our indefinite strike has started today and will continue till justice is served. However, the emergency service has been continued to ensure that the patients do not face any problem.
