Director Nilesh Ambedkar – New Era of Marathi Cinema

Nilesh Ambedkar a new emerging director, born in 1986 at Manmad, coming from middle family background. He completing his studies in Mass communication & journalism. Ambedkar had dreams & his own visions towards films. Keeping those in mind, at first he worked here & there to survive. As he got chance, he learnt editing & animation from Zee institute of creative arts & He started his own “Blue Hill Productions”.

Nilesh who is one of the Ambedkarite, calling him as a director only would be limiting his works & visions, He is more than a director. If we go through his movies, we see a type of revolution in it. It’s a new era, where revolutionaries will be using different platforms to show their point of views, the world they are dreaming about. At earlier, writers or revolutionaries used to write something & common people used to read it & used to act accordingly; but as time changed, platforms should be changed too. Now revolutionary people will try to establish equality by art. & Nilesh Ambedkar is one of the best of example of it. His every movie has a social message, revolution in it.

Nilesh Ambedkar has his own genre where he put realistic approach as a main character. Where we forget either we are watching a movie or experiencing a true story going on in front of us. We become part of it. He puts the stories into the films which he uses to observe in the society. The most important facts in his films are symbolisms. We should have that understanding in our mind while watching all these symbols, in which what those are actually talking with us. Once we get the knowledge of it, we understand the movies. We do not only use to understand the movies; but we start watching it as an art. People judge movies on the basis of entertainment only. But when directors like Nilesh Ambedkar makes movies, we need to judge it by artistic approach.

Director like Nilesh Ambedkar comes from exclusives, choose a path where he doesn’t have any godfather, achieves National award for his one of films, “Munghyar”. The award was given by energy minister of India, Rajkumar Singh. It was nominated in National Human Rights, Delhi. It won national award with 1 lack rupee cash price.  This award is not achieved by Nilesh Ambedkar only but also those Nilesh Ambedkars who are struggling in life. Nilesh Ambedkar got more than 75 awards for his first film, “Vanwas”. Vanwas talks on education system. It also got chalchitram award from Assam government with 1lakh rupee price. The film was praised by Indian government (Panchayat Raj). His “Final Touch” talks about menstrual cycle. A girl who faces her first period. He handles the questions from society. Final touch got Sarvajanik Mahaaarogya mahotsav award. His “Zaga” talks about children’s exploitation. His “Shirsathe” was praised Bharat sarkar panchayat raj.  “Munghyar” talks about jaat panchayat. “Chirbhog” talks about today’s world by children’s point of view.

Nilesh Ambedkar got more than 150 national & international awards for his films, he is one the followers of Phule, Shahu & Ambedkar. He says, “Dalit literature & fats from it inspires me. Movies are not just to be entertained but also to show facts like social issues, revolutions etc. Cinemas like Karnan, Jay Bhim, Asuran not only appreciated by critics but also earn good money too. Caste is not important but the human being. His questions, problems & solutions should be shown by the cinema.” He is now working on feature film these days.
