‘Diamond of the State’: Surat Artists Turn Harsh Sanghavi into a Rare Gem Masterpiece

Surat : In a unique convergence of political tribute and high-end gemological artistry, the Surat-based world’s leading Lexus Softmac and International School of Gems and Jewellery (ISGJ) have jointly crafted a 10.07 carat custom-manufactured diamond sculpture carved into the exact facial replica of Gujarat’s deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi. 

Dubbed the *”Diamond of the State,” this premium brown diamond masterpiece honors the prominent political leader from Surat. Sanghavi, who represents the Majura constituency and serves in vital Gujarat government portfolios including Home, Sports, and Transport, is widely celebrated as one of the state’s most dynamic faces.

Utpal Mistry, Founder and Director of Lexus SoftMac, said the project demonstrates how innovation is reshaping the diamond industry. “This creation is a perfect example of how advanced software, engineering, and craftsmanship can come together to transform a concept into a unique work of art. It highlights Surat’s ability to push the boundaries of diamond manufacturing and create products with global appeal.”

The groundbreaking piece pushes the boundaries of traditional gem cutting. It transitions seamlessly from a raw rough stone into a highly detailed, recognizable side-profile portrait.

The Art of Precision Engineering

Transforming the premium brown diamond required an extraordinary level of technological precision and artistic vision. Master cutters utilized advanced outline mapping and photoreal simulations to map out the intricate facets of the leader’s silhouette.This project highlights the capability to convert a concept, photograph, and 3D planning model into a unique diamond portrait suitable for presentation, collection, or exhibition.

The design meticulously balanced three conflicting goals:

Achieving an unmistakable artistic resemblance.

Optimizing the diamond’s natural light reflection and optical performance.

Maximizing the final carat weight and yield retention from the original rough stone.

The objective was to transform a diamond into a recognizable side-profile facial replica while maintaining optimal brilliance,” the design team noted, emphasizing that the project sets a new milestone for advanced diamond planning and artistic execution.

By marrying Surat’s world-class diamond craftsmanship with state-of-the-art 3D planning, this 10.07-carat portrait stands as a glittering symbol of innovation, firmly cementing Gujarat’s legacy as a global hub for luxury and design.
