Daniya storms into semis, assures medal in U-11 National TT

Gandhidham : Daniya Godil, a teen from Gujarat, beat B Varnica, a teen from Tamil Nadu, 3-2 in a nail-biting quarterfinal match at the 84th Inter-state Sub Junior and Cadet National TT Championship, taking place presently in Alappuzha, Kerala.

This victory by the No. 13 seed secured Gujarat its first medal in the competition. It’ll be her first ever national medal.

The 10-year-old Daniya had a successful start to her campaign, beating Ankisha Mishra of UP 3-0 in the round of 32. Surat’s C Ishita gave her a tough match in the round of eight, but the Surat girl prevailed in a 3-2 thriller.

Gujarat’s under-15 girls team lost to Maharashtra in the quarterfinals of the team competition, 1-3, and thereby missed out on a chance at a podium finish.
