Daniya settles for bronze in U-11 National TT

Gandhidham : Gujarat’s Daniya Godil settled for bronze medal in the girls U-11 category of the ongoing 84th Inter-state Sub Junior and Cadet National TT Championship in Kerala after she suffered a 1-3 semifinal defeat at hands of  the top seed Saturya Banerjee of West  Bengal (8-11,9-11,15-13,4-11) in the semifinal.

This will be the 13th seeds’ maiden medal at the national-level TT meet.

Meanwhile, in the girls U-13 doubles, Gujarat’s Jiya Trivedi and Mouboni Chatterjee went down fighting 2-3 (11-5, 10-12, 12-10, 4-11, 7-11) in the quarterfinal against the 4th seeded Bengal pair of Shreya Dhar and Prateeti Paul.

Gujarat’s Girls U-11 and 13 coach Sonal Joshi said that Daniya’s medal is very heartening. “Gujarat has been doing well in higher categories. And now we are consistently performing well in cadet event as well,” Gujarat’s former women’s no.1 Sonal said.
