Crane Collapse in Ahmedabad Disrupts Rail Traffic: 23 Trains Cancelled

Ahmedabad: A major railway disruption occurred in Ahmedabad after a crane collapsed near Vatva on the night of March 23. The incident affected train services, leading to the cancellation of 23 trains, the diversion of 7 trains, and the short termination of 15 trains. Fortunately, there were no major casualties, but two people sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Railway Operations Severely Impacted
The accident occurred near the Rokda Railway Overbridge, where a massive crane used for the bullet train construction suddenly collapsed onto a pillar. The impact damaged the railway’s overhead wires, disrupting train movements. According to railway authorities, immediate restoration work began overnight, and efforts are being made to resume normal operations by noon.
A railway inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident. The Divisional Railway Manager has been assigned to oversee the investigation.

Several trains have been impacted due to the incident:
Cancelled Trains: Karnavati Express,Gujarat Queen,Gujarat Express,Intercity Express,Sankalp Fast Express,MEMU trains from Vatva to Anand and Bharuch.
Short-Terminated & Diverted Trains: Shatabdi Express to Mumbai will depart from Bharuch instead of Ahmedabad, Five trains, including Howrah, Rajkot-Secunderabad, and Barauni Express, have revised schedules, and five outbound trains from Ahmedabad have been diverted.
