CM Bhupendra Patel Chairs GRIT’s First Governing Body Meeting

Gandhinagar : The inaugural Governing Body meeting of the Gujarat Institution for Transformation (GRIT) took place in Gandhinagar under the leadership of Chief Minister  Bhupendra Patel. The meeting highlighted GRIT’s role as a think tank and innovation hub for the state government, with its broader scope of work and institutional arrangements discussed in detail.

During the meeting, GRIT’s newly appointed CEO, S. Aparna, presented the institution’s initial working visions. GRIT will coordinate with various government departments to implement the recommendations of the Task Force Committee appointed by the state government. It aims to analyze public welfare schemes for their social impact and benefits, as emphasized by CM Bhupendra Patel.

State ministers, including Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai, Health Minister Rushikesh Patel, Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput, Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel, and Education Minister Kuberbhai Dindor, actively participated in the discussions.

A key highlight of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between GRIT and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A). This partnership aims to leverage IIM-A’s expertise, knowledge, and network to address critical issues and schemes of the state government. The MoU was signed by GRIT CEO Ms. S. Aparna and IIM-A Director Mr. Bharat Bhaskar in the presence of CM Patel, IIM-A Chairman Mr. Pankaj Patel, and other dignitaries.

The Growth Hub Model suggested by NITI Aayog, already implemented in Surat, was another focus area. The governing body emphasized GRIT’s role in facilitating its expansion to other regions of Gujarat.

Chief Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Dr. Hasmukh Adhia, Chief Secretary Rajkumar, and Additional Chief Secretaries Pankaj Joshi and  M. K. Das were among the senior officials contributing to the deliberations.

GRIT’s collaboration with IIM Ahmedabad and its efforts to institutionalize innovative models highlight Gujarat’s commitment to sustainable development and effective governance under CM Bhupendra Patel’s leadership.
