CII Recognizes Vedanta Aluminium for Business and Energy Excellence
The awards were presented to Vedanta for its outstanding energy management and safety digitalization in supply chain.
Jharsuguda (Odisha) : Vedanta Aluminium, India’s biggest aluminium producer, has received industry recognition at the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) IQ National and Regional Excellence Practise Competition and National Energy Awards for Excellence in Energy Management. The firm received two gold medals for its project ‘Supply Chain Operations & Safety Digitalization,’ as well as the Energy Award for Excellence in Energy Management from a varied pool of sectors including metal, power, cement, engineering, paper, automation, and others.
Vedanta Aluminium accomplished this exceptional performance via a number of strategic efforts, including the use of 100% graphitized cathodes to improve energy efficiency, which resulted in 7.93 million kWh of annual energy savings. It has also used biomass co-firing to provide energy to power its activities, lowering coal usage via the use of biomass pellets.
Vedanta has also used the OSI-PI Monitoring System, which promotes effective data administration, and has decreased its carbon footprint by switching to electric forklifts. It also optimised supply chain processes, reduced human intervention by 75%, increased safety compliance using AI/ML-based video analytics, and improved training with Virtual Reality Solutions.

This achievement adds to the long list of honours bestowed upon Vedanta for its pioneering efforts in the field of business excellence. Some prominent honours include: Frost & Sullivan’s Awards: Certificate of Merit for Artificial Intelligence in the Manufacturing Sector: The project incorporates real-time predictive warnings on equipment health to limit unexpected breaks, increased equipment availability, import of power cost optimisation owing to fewer unscheduled setbacks, and continuing results fine tuning to match business criteria.

The Sustainable Development Foundation awarded the Exceed Occupational Health & Safety Award for demonstrating exemplary safety measures and practises.
